Hey Y'all,

Lobster rolls are back! Same price, same great lobster roll. If you are new to the Catch, you should know that we ONLY sell lobster rolls when we can get fresh lobster meat which is why ours are so much better than the "year-round" rolls you find in other places. Stop by this weekend to give one a try.

Elaine sent me these mouthwatering photos of her dinner last weekend

Thai Red Curry Halibut and Shrimp

She didn't send me a recipe but I found this one that looks similar:

Thai Shrimp Halibut Curry

Thai red curry paste, unsweetened coconut milk, and fish sauce are available in the Asian foods section of most supermarkets. Serve this curry over steamed jasmine rice.

More delicious wines from Oregon to pair with seafood or just sip on the patio. Also try our great new addition from Bodega Garzon in Uruguay.

Ovum Wines - Big Salt White Blend 2024 - $20.99 - OR

Riesling, Gewurtztraminer, Early Muscat, Sauvignon Blanc

Big Salt is a dry, white blend that dreams of capturing the essence of Oregon in a bottle of wine. Fresh, bright aromas of sea spray typify this texturally rich proprietary blend. If you could bottle a day at the beach, this might be it: zesty, aromatic, and refreshing, lively layers of spicy white flowers, fresh peach, savory briny undertones, and a squeeze of citrus will keep you coming back for sip after sip! If you enjoy aromatic whites with a touch of salinity and minerality, Big Salt 2025 is a standout Oregon value with broad appeal.

Brittan Estate Pinot Noir, 2022 - $39.99 - Willamette Valley, OR

Wine Enthusiast - 93

Floating up to ethereal territory, this light-bodied wine offers an aromatic gift of orange marmalade flecked with bits of cranberry and coriander. Lemon-driven acidity highlights a crisp and tangy flavor similar to a cross between cranberry fruit leather and cherry-flavored sparkling water. A perfect wine to enliven a Summer's evening. Michael Alberty

Bodega Garzon Albarino Reserva, 2025 - $27.89 - Maldonado, Uruguay

This Albariño is of a pale yellow color with greenish reflections and fruity aromas reminding of peach; balanced with citric notes. It is fresh and mineral with a marked acidity and a long and rounded aftertaste in mouth. Its ripening time takes place between 3 to 6 months on fine lees in stainless steel tanks and cement tanks. Excellent pairings for this wine are citrus prawn salad, or traditional grilled seafood with warm mango salad and beans. It is delightfully well suited to Asian food, Peruvian ceviche, or a fresh tuna salad.

Decanter Rating - 92

Super-bright and citrus-driven, with lifted peach and lemon zest layered over saline minerality. Dry, zippy and refreshing, yet softened by six months on lees. A beautifully poised, textural and compelling Atlantic Albariño expression.

This Week's Special

Monkfish 6 oz. $9.95

Have you tried the Poor Man's Lobster? Many people steer away from it because they either are unfamiliar with it or they happened to see a photo of this fish whole. Monkfish is a leading contender for the ugliest fish in the ocean. This is unfortunate because it is one of the best tasting. Mild, sweet and a texture like lobster, monkfish is easy to cook and easy to eat.

Here's how I do it. Heat some oil over medium high heat. Place the monkfish portions in the pan and cook for about 3 minutes. Turn the fish and add some butter - about a tablespoon per serving. Add some garlic and thyme and cook the fish to about 130 degrees, basting constantly. It should be flaky and juicy in the thickest part.

"Poor Man's Lobster" - Monkfish with Herb Brown Butter

This a Monkfish recipe that really showcases how good "poor man's lobster" can be! Pan seared, butter basted, served with Herb Brown Butter.

Alice Cooper called the last three minutes of the school year one of the two best times of his life. (The other was waking up Christmas morning to open gifts.) I remember the excitement of the long summer ahead with no early mornings or other obligations. Summer lasted from Memorial Day to Labor Day, plenty of time for sunburns, bike accidents, after dark Hide and Seek and hours upon hours at the neighborhood pool.

For parents, summer is a welcome respite from the grueling routine of getting kids out the door to school every morning and making sure they made it to after school activities while still getting homework done. You all deserve a break!

Take it easy this weekend. This is not the time for accomplishments. Stay in the pool too long. If it is raining, watch old movies. In between rain showers, take a walk without breaking speed records. Rest and enjoy your family. Your only real obligation is to cook fish for dinner. You got this.
