Hey Y'all,
Happening Saturday
We will be looking for you at lunchtime tomorrow because we are grilling shrimp skewers! Going for a Polynesian flavor, our sauce this week is pineapple-based with delicious island flavors served over rice.
One skewer (with 9 shrimp) is $12.00. If you are choosing a baloney sandwich for lunch tomorrow instead, pick up a couple skewers for dinner to cook at home.
Ready for the grill!

Dogs in the Store
Did you know that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (as well as our state Health Department) prohibit live animals in food stores? When we ask you to take your dog outside it is because we have to. I know it is too hot to leave your dog in the car without air conditioning, but if you would like to call inside and have us wrap fish and conduct the transaction at your car window, we will gladly do so.
If I am working in the store, I will happily take a seat on the sidewalk with your pup while you shop. Lest you doubt my belief that dogs are the greatest mammals and deserve to shop anywhere they want, here are photos of my beasts:

Terrible beggars. Both of them.

This week we will take a look at two alternative whites from the Rhone Valley as well as a great value Italian red.
First the whites:
Arsac Les Amandieres Viognier - $26.29
Southern Rhone Valley
100% Viognier white wine from the Ardèche region of France, known for its floral, fruity, and mineral-driven profile, making it a versatile and elegant choice for pairing with seafood and poultry.
Aromas & Flavors: Peach, apricot, white peach, pineapple, honey, jasmine, rose petal, citrus (lemon, peach), and mineral/earthy undertones.
Texture: Medium body, creamy/oily mouthfeel, subtle oak or vanilla notes in some vintages.
Finish: Dry, lingering, with floral and fruit persistence.
Pairing: Grilled or roasted salmon, grilled fish with mango salsa, spicy tuna rolls, cod cakes with tarragon aioli. Also works well with light pasta, seafood risottos, and fresh oysters. emphasis mine :)
Les Bruyeres 2024 L'envie Collines Rhodaniennes Blanc- $31.19
Northern Rhone Valley
100% Marsanne
This wine is known for its crisp acidity and honey-like notes of white peach, citrus blossom, honeysuckle and almond. It is produced using organic and and biodynamic farming practices, ensuring a natural and high-quality wine. The wine is characterized by its silky texture and remarkable balance, offering a fresh and round experience on the palate. It is a testament to the meticulous winemaking process that respects the integrity of the grape, resulting in a wine that is both elegant and precise.
And for the red, this delicious bargain:
Rocca delle Macie 2022 Chianti Classico - $21.97
Tuscany, Italy
95% Sangiovese, 5% Merlot
Wine Enthusiast Rating - 91
Tasting Notes: Bright ruby red with intense, persistent wild berry and spice aromas; savory and full-bodied on the palate, with soft tannins and a lingering berry finish.
I have given you this recipe before but I can't think of a better way to convince you that monkfish is an absolutely delicious fish. Click the button below for Carlos Morales' recipe for Lemon Garlic Monkfish along with his wine pairing suggestions. And please, stay off his lawn. |

And Finally,
I don't hesitate to tell the world that I turned 64 years old on Wednesday. I really don't have issues with aging because, like they say, it's better than the alternative! I celebrated my birthday watching the Braves hand it to the Mets. I sent my son a selfie showing where we were sitting and he said, "I made those railings!".
Here's me - not looking my very best in 89 degree weather but happy to have great Truist Park seats.

In addition to the Braves hat Mr. Fish bought me, I am showing off the gift that the Atlanta Braves gave me to celebrate my birthday. It's a Javy Lopez bobblehead (I am well old enough to remember Javy Lopez's playing days). AND they gave me a free hotdog because hot dogs are the best birthday party food. To add to the excitement, they offered the BOGO hotdogs to everyone! To top it off they also gave the bobblehead to 15,000 of my best friends! (Can you believe that!?!) As for party games, the cheerleaders fired t-shirt cannons and I caught a Braves t-shirt! Gifts, food and party games with prizes - what a great birthday!
And just because I am a proud mom, here's my son's shop where he made all those railings - and a lot of other stuff at Truist Park!

Hope you have a great weekend. Come by and see my new hat and bobblehead! Blessings, Kathleen
