Hey Y'all, I know the pollen is a lot. I can see your red eyes and runny noses when you step into my store and I'm sorry you are suffering. All I can suggest is an allergy pill and the realization that this pollen is the reason our city is so beautiful. Does that help any? |

No Time Left for Youuuuu Here's an ear worm for you: |
THE GUESS WHO- “NO TIME”(LYRICS) “NO TIME” peaked at #5 in 1970 on the Billboard Hot 100. LYRICS: (No time left for you) On my way to better things (No time left for you) I found myself some… |
"No time left for you...Seasons change and so did I." Not very nice lyrics but a catchy tune.
Seasons are changing and in a nice, fishy way: - The first springtime addition to our cases will be Pacific halibut. The season opened March 23rd which means we should start to see fish next week.
- Crawfish season peaks in the spring. I don't sell live crawfish but I can provide boiled crawfish which are a tasty addition to a seafood boil.
-Wild salmon is coming. The season traditionally starts with the opening of the Copper River in mid-May when king and sockeye return to the river. Prices are always high for the start of the season and especially for the Copper River quality. Don't say I didn't warn you.
-Soft shell crabs! The season for soft shells is entirely weather dependent as crabs shedding is related to water temperature. Look for them in April or May.
-The ever popular lobster roll will return when the weather warms and fresh meat becomes available. I'm hoping for them in June.
What do we say goodbye to in the Spring? Stone crab - April is the last month for these so if you are planning a going away party for your favorite crabs, get in touch and we can set you up. |

Free Wine Tasting On Saturday, 3:00-5:00 pm Come see us this weekend for our free wine tasting on Saturday afternoon from 3:00-5:00. This Saturday, we are sampling a couple of highly rated cabernets and a great new dessert wine.
L'Ecole #41 Cabernet Sauvignon - $ 42.95 Walla Walla, Columbia Valley, WA Wine Enthusiast Rating - 94 Blackberries and bittersweet dark chocolate is a winning aroma combination for this brawny, full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon. With a bit of air time, aromas of grape hyacinth and pine bark join the party. Powerful, chewy tannins frame the wine's black cherry pastille, anise and black tea flavors. If you open this bottle any time soon, prepare to decant. It should age gracefully for another 12-13 years. — Michael Alberty
Primus Cabernet Sauvignon, 2019 - $22.79 Maipo Valley, Chile Wine Spectator Rating - 90 A finely chiseled red, with elegance and depth, showing forest floor, lavender and balsam notes around a lively mouthful of mineral-laced red currant and plum. Ends with well-formed tannins and peppercorn details. Drink now.
Marenco Strev Moscato d'Asti - $22.39 Asti, Piedmont, Italy Wine Tasting NotesMarenco Strev Moscato d'Asti pours straw yellow in color, with an aromatic and fragrant nose. Perfect with biscotti or a bowl of fresh berries. The sweet, peachy, floral flavors of the wine lend an exotic edge to the fruit. Perfect for after dinner desserts, also as an aperitif or even with brunch. |
And Finally, This is my annual crawfish story. When I opened my first store 15 years ago, I really had no idea what I was doing. I was married to the person who knew more about seafood than anyone else in the world, but personally, I knew next to nothing. My approach, when faced with a question I couldn't answer, was to run to the back of the store and call Mike.
One day an old man came in the store to ask for bald crawfish, a new request for me. I trotted to the back and called Mike to ask him if we could get them. It went like this:
Me: Can we get bald crawfish? Mike: What? Me: Bald crawfish? Mike: What the hell are you talking about? Me: Bald crawfish
I gave up and told the man we couldn't get them.
Five minutes later Mike calls back: You idiot. It's not bald crawfish. It's boiled crawfish. |
Have a good weekend and, please practice clear and concise pronounciation.
Blessings, Kathleen P.S. We are closing on Easter. Don't forget! |
