Hey Y'all,

Happy Father's Day weekend! If you are lucky enough to have your dad around, why don't you bring him by the Catch on Saturday afternoon? You can feast on our freshly grilled mahi tacos with beans and rice or some grilled shrimp between 11 and 3. After that you can sample some of our delicious wines from 3 to 5 and end your visit with a sack full of fresh fish for dinner!

Spend your day at the Catch!

Fin Mail

The Catch mailbag had a couple of interesting notes.

Coy sent this suggestion for how to enjoy your food a little bit more.

Have you ever had The Pepper Plant Sauce? I mix it with yogurt and a little bit of ranch powder for a really interesting dipping sauce. If you haven’t tried this out you should. It has a little kick but it’s more interesting and unique than "burn your face off". I eat it with a lot of my food these days.

Thanks, Coy, for this suggestion. We are not fans of burning our faces off so we will be checking this out as soon as our next Amazon delivery arrives!

Ed sent a picture of Mike's Carolina Dry Rub Pan BBQ'd Trout which he served over grits.

If you missed this favorite recipe of ours you can find it in last week's email which is now on my blog called Notes From Kathleen - at https://www.kathleenscatch.com/blog. Here's a link to last week's note:

Salmon, Rainbow Trout and Vacation

I'm on vacation this week so I dropped in a few of my favorite fish recipes from Mr. Fish's kitchen to hold you over until I return next week!

Free Wine Tasting - Join us Saturday 3:00-5:00

For our red selection this weekend we are reintroducing a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from Western Australia. At our first tasting of this wine we sold all the bottles we had because every single person who tasted it bought it. How's that for a ringing endorsement of Ringbolt?

Ringbolt Cabernet Sauvignon- Margaret River, 2021 - $27.79

Western Australia

Wine Spectator - 92

A bold crimson red in color with magenta hues. The nose has rich aromas of violets, black cherries and mulberries with hints of cassis and forest-floor characters. The wine opens with the pretty floral characters of the nose and a rich blackberry edge before progressing to the mocha oak mid palate and finishing with succulent tannins that continue the experience long after the wine has left your mouth.

For white wine this weekend, we are comparing Sauvignon Blanc from Sancerrre of the Loire Valley to a Sauvignon Blanc from the Rutherford district of Napa Valley.

Michel Thomas Sancerre Blanc, 2025 - $44.97

Loire Valley, France

Pale straw with a green flash—like sunlight bouncing off wet river stones in the Loire. Fresh lemon zest, grapefruit peel, and a little white flower lift on the nose, followed by that classic Sancerre “crushed flint” snap on the palate. Crisp, clean, and super food-friendly—perfect with goat cheese, oysters, sushi, or even salty fries shared with friends - that somehow turns into a second bottle. (ed: It's magic.)

vs.

Silverado Sauvignon Blanc- Miller Ranch, 2025 - $22.99

Yountville, Napa Valley, CA, Estate grown

Miller Ranch Vineyard is south of Yountville, nestled between the Napa River and Hopper Creek. The property was originally a wedding gift to David and Sarah Dunlap from Sarah’s father, and was first planted to vine in the 1870s. Silverado Vineyards purchased the land and restored the vineyards for the estate in 1976. Yolo Loam and Clear Lake Clay drained soils are silty, cool and deep -- perfect for aromatic white wines. Open to the south, the vineyard enjoys the benefit of bay breezes and fog with contribute to the wine’s green citrus and melon notes and bright minerality.

Our 2023 Sauvignon Blanc is a bright and refreshing wine with aromas of stonefruit, lime, and mango. The palate offers abundant citrus flavors with orange blossom, mango, hints of pineapple and pear, and a crisp mineral finish.

And Finally,

As always, Montana did indeed cast a spell on me. I've lost count of the number of times I have visited my brother in Bozeman but everytime I go I feel like it's my first. The mountains, the water falls, the hiking trails, huckleberries, Yellowstone, the truly big sky, Paradise Valley, the weather (!), the speed limit (80 mph), it all suits me just fine.

It was my first trip out west with my 13-year-old granddaughter, Reilly. We went to Bozeman to meet up with her brother, Dakota, who is stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base at Great Falls. I loved showing them my favorite spots and exploring the area together. Here we are at Mammoth Hot Springs. It was windy.

I love Montana very much but I am glad to be back home. I missed you.

Blessings,

Kathleen
