Hey Y'all,

I'm excited to say that it looks like we will be making that trip to Brunswick next week to pick up your fresh shrimp! Please remember that you must pre-order for this fresh, wild Georgia shrimp. It will be available for you to pickup between Friday 10/24 and Sunday 10/26. You MUST pre-order this shrimp via the website. There will be very little if any to be sold in the store. Order cut off is Tuesday!

No Fish Left Behind

Have you ever noticed that you don't see a fishmonger on every corner? The reason for this is that it is very hard to make a living by selling a product that only has a very short shelf life. One of the tricks for my longevity (almost 15 years!) has been my discount freezer. Besides the fact that it is an awful thing to take a bunch of fish out of the ocean and then toss them in the trash, it is not good for the bottom line if I am forced to throw away our product.

The fish in the freezer is excellent quality so that when you are in our store buying your fresh fish for tonight's dinner, you can raid the discount freezer to have frozen fish for tomorrow night's dinner. And if you shop on Wednesdays you can get that fish Buy One Get One Free! Here's what's in the freezer right now:

Corvina

Hawaiian Kampachi

Skate Wing

Atlantic Salmon

Sockeye Salmon

Coho Salmon

King Salmon

Pompano

Steelhead Trout

Tuna

Triggerfish

Chilean Sea Bass

Flounder

As you can see there is a great variety of fish and in a variety of package sizes. Come take a look. It's a great way to try other fish at a discount!

Wines By Mike

Wine Tasting is Saturday from 3:00-5:00. Come sample some amazing wines!

Halloween is on us (Yikes!). Afterward comes the holiday season and the associated parties, dinners, family gatherings, and weekend getaways to the mountains with loved ones. It's a perfect season to crack open a special bottle of wine with or without dinner!

This Saturday we are sampling three special selections that not only pair well with Thanksgiving turkey dinner, but would make any dinner a celebration.

Cobb Wines, 2019 Wendling Vineyard Pinot Noir    - $84.95

Anderson Valley, CA

Perfect for any of the above-mentioned special occasions or to enjoy with a special person!

96 points Wine Advocate: Medium ruby, the 2019 Pinot Noir Wendling Vineyard offers pure cranberry, red cherry, pomegranate and rhubarb fruit, with accents of forest floor, conifer and Angostura bitters. The medium-bodied palate is powerful and spicy, with loads of silty tannins, a deep core of spicy fruit and a very long, nuanced finish. It has more to give with an additional 2-3 years in bottle. (EB) 96+" (07/2022)

R.Stuart & Co. 2022 Daffodil Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir    - $48.79

Eola-Amity Hills AVA, Willamette Valley, OR

TASTING NOTES: COLOR - AROMAS - FLAVORS - ruby, clear dark cherry, strawberry fruit leather, fig, dusty cocoa, rosemary, cola lavender, pomegranate, black tea, amaro, cherry, limestone, fresh bay leaf

VINTAGE NOTES: The flowering was delayed by the chilly spring and when the blooms opened in late June and early July, the weather was near perfect resulting in an excellent fruit set. Summer weather emerged as it reliably does in July, and we had plenty of consistent warmth through August. We capped the season off with an October that was warmer than usual, coming in at 4-6° warmer than average. The quality of fruit is outstanding and 2022 will be a classic vintage for the ages.

Joseph Drouhin Saint-Veran, 2022    - $33.97

White Burgundy (100% Chardonnay)

#48 Wine of the Year, (Wine Spectator 2024 Top 100)

91 Points, Wine Spectator

It’s no surprise that a winery with as much prowess as Joseph Drouhin would end up in Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines of the Year list at #48. But perhaps the shocker is that it’s this dynamic value Chardonnay that earns them their latest trip. The 2022 Saint-Véran is bright and refreshing with aromas of ripe citrus fruits, lemon and grapefruit, and hints of floral notes. The wine’s crisp acidity is balanced by a creamy texture, leading to a clean and lingering finish. It’s a versatile wine that pairs well with seafood, poultry, and light cheeses.

Caviar

Available this weekend:

Golden Osetra Caviar

And Finally

ree

Fresh Harvest and the Catch have been friends for a long time. They sell our fish; we sell their produce and other stuff. I'm proud of this relationship because they are really good people. That makes me feel like really good people too. You can learn more about Fresh Harvest and see why I am so happy to work with them here. Not only do they do good things for farmers and the environment, they are very good to refugees who have settled in the Clarkston area. I fact, 75% of the Fresh Harvest staff are refugees.

Saturday October 25th, we will be in Clarkston at Refuge Coffee (get the name?) from 10AM to 2PM to help promote our little company and all the other local companies who are part of the Fresh Harvest family. They will be selling locally made gifts and other things while we sample and sell our shrimp. Come and see us! Of course you can listen to me blab all day, but if you are really lucky you might catch a glimpse of my trusty helper/ granddaughter, Reilly.

If you click here you can get tickets for this free event and score some free coffee. What could be better than that?

Have a great weekend. Enjoy the weather. Walk the dog. Read a good book. Eat fish.

Blessings,

Kathleen
